Title: >32gb microSDHC Support for Fuze+?
Post by: heropuppet on April 21, 2014, 11:55:56 PM
I'm not sure if this goes under the "Hardware" Forum or not so I just posted this here.

Is it possible for Rockbox to support microSDHC cards greater than 32gb of size on the Sansa Fuze+? Is this a firmware or hardware limitation?

I understand you have to format the card to FAT32 and it will work OK. It's the fact that the 64gb plus cards are exFAT that they don't work out of the box in the Sansa players.

64GB and 128GB cards work fine in the Sansa Clip Zip if formatted to FAT32.

This worked for me. I formatted the microsdhc card to fat32 and the card shows up in the filesystem and works properly. Thank you very much! I'm glad that it was that simlple.

I've been using a Sandisk Ultra 64GB Class 10 Micro SD Card in my Fuze+ since September 2013 and it works fine.  Before that I had used a Transcend 32GB microSD.  I know there can always be glitches with the player hardware and even the drivers but as far as I can tell if you use a good quality card with sane partition table it will work very well in Rockbox.  About the worst thing you can do is use a card of dubious origin.  The next worst thing is to partition or format it in ways that differ from the recommendations  of the SD Association.  Be kind to yourself and just use their format tool.  Also avoid rap music.
