Title: iPod Nano 1st gen - failure to install
Post by: jseach on March 25, 2019, 08:36:11 PM
OSX:  Sierra 10.12.6
Processor:  2.8 i5
Memory:  16g

iPod Nano 1st, 4G, version 1.3.1

I've attempted the automatic and manual installation, but in both cases, I get "permission denied".  ipodpatcher also does not detect the device.  The Rockbox Utility sees the device, but reports "permission denied".

Enable disk use is checked and I can copy files to the Nano without issue.

Any ideas?

Patching the firmware requires raw access to the storage device, so you need to be running as root.

Okay, I'm stuck again!

I had to do a restore.  I extracted the .rockbox folder onto the Nano and attempt to run ipodpatcher as admin (sudo).  Not working this time.  The only difference in my set between now and March is that now I'm running High Sierra.

Ideas?

Thanks.

You should probably provide more details if possible.  Any error message from ipodpatcher?
