Hi all,
I use the radio remote for my Ipod video 80Go "without" problems with rockbox in V17054
I can just change the volume level with the remote, not on ipod, and all others button don't response.
I use the radio remote because my jack 3.5 is dead... i don't wanna buy a new Ipod xD
But when i Update rockbox at version 17098 i can't hear sound with the radio remote :-(
I can't listen to the music now....
Someone have a solution??? Thanks!!
PS: sorry for my english, i'm french! :-)
Modifyng words: V17074 to V17054 sorry^^

See how well you can pinpoint when this started and file a bug report.
-
sorry, but i don't understand... what means "pinpoint"??
Thanks for answering

Hi,
there was a change in r17095 that might have influenced the behaviour of accesories (see http://www.rockbox.org/tracker/task/8603 ).
Could you test if your remote still works with the daily build from 2008-04-13 (r17091)?
You can find it here: http://www.rockbox.org/dl.cgi?bin=ipodvideo64mb
-
O.K----> tested It with 2008-04-13 r17091, it works correctly...I have a sound output and i can change volume level with the remote, (only by the remote, not on Ipod like in my old version-----> V17054)
-
Good. So that strongly suggests that the r17095 is the change that makes your accessory not work properly. The discussion on the tracker did not have input from any people with accessories. I'm sure the developers will be interested in your input.
I think that only being able to change the volume with your remote is the correct behavior. It should be getting audio from the line-out in the iPod's dock. As such, the volume controls on the iPod should not affect this signal. The output volume should be controlled by the remote.
I would say that you should post a bug report. Mention this discussion in the bug report. Once that's completed come back here and post the Flyspray number so people can easily check it.
-
where must i post for the bug reporting?
Sorry :-\ :-\

Hi insane,
I've undone my change with r17111, your radio remote should work again now.
Of course I'm interested in finding a better solution as the power supply drains a lot of battery even if not used or needed. So, can you do some tests for me?
Can you please go into the debug menu ("View i/o ports") and watch the GPIO states when inserting and removing your radio remote? I expect some of the values to change when doing so. Please post your results here.
To any other users who have accessories to test: If you've got iPods please also post your results here and state what kind of accessory and iPod (3G, 4G, ...) you are using.
Thanks a lot for your support.

Thanks, sounds promising ;)
Are you able to build rockbox or are you using pre-compiled builds?
-
i modify existig files on my Ipod.
I download the latest version and copy theses files:
- Database.ignore
- Rockbox.ipod
- Rockbox-info.txt
- tagnavi.config
- viewers.config
And i overwrite existings ones on my ipod
-
You are downloading rockbox as zip-file, correct? You do not compile the source code by yourself?
-
changed my reply, sorry, i have used of an online translate
Ps: yes, i download zip files-----Sombody say newbie? ;D

You asked about where to file bug reports earlier. For future reference, do this by following the Tracker link labeled "bugs" in the side bar. . .
<--------- over there. (You will need to sign up for a separate account on the tracker. But this only takes a minute.)
I give this information for future usage. It seems you have gotten the attention of the right person.
-
lol, thank you so much for what you do!
i'm definitively fan of rockbox!
continue!
And if you need help for anothers things, i'm here for testing! xD
-
Insane, please wait until there is a version downloadable which is >=r17111 and retest then. Right now there is only a r17110 downloadable.
-
I've just noticed this thread. This is just to say that if further testing is needed, please just let me know, I'd be happy to do it. I have a 5.5G ipod video (r16890 but will update) and I often use a kensington entertainment dock station 500 to take audio out (similar case to this thread's?)
Edit: On r17103 the sound through the dock (powered) was working fine, so I didn't experience exactly what Insane reported. However I noticed this. If, once the ipod is on the dock, is taken out of the dock, or if I cut the dock's power, when I put back the iPod on the dock (or if I power the dock again), the audio won't reestablish. When I used r17119 this was corrected.

Ok, i'v tested the REV 17121 and I have a sound ouput, an i can control volume level with the remote, like in revision 17091 and 17054?
at when a script managing "correctly" the radio remote?
Thanks all!

You might be interested in this patch:
http://www.rockbox.org/tracker/task/8624?histring=apple%20protocol
-
I might also try it since I've been only able to change the volume using the remote on the dock I use (skipping, menu, etc do not work), thanks! ;)
-
Thanks chronon!
But how to install it??? :-X
it was a text file! when i click for download it it appears a text page?
What does it mean? :P
-
You would have to learn to apply patches. Your rockbox build would become "unsupported". If you want to try anyway, you might want to take a look at http://www.rockbox.org/twiki/bin/view/Main/WorkingWithPatches , http://www.rockbox.org/twiki/bin/view/Main/SimpleGuideToCompiling , http://forums.rockbox.org/index.php?board=36.0 ...

Yeah, it will take a bit of reading if you're not familiar with compiling source code into executable binaries. But the good news is that the instructions are pretty detailed.
If you have questions on patching, compiling, etc., you can ask in the appropriate forum.
