Title: Itunes playlist conversion?
Post by: Apt Quadruped on January 06, 2007, 11:31:15 AM
Hello, I've been using rockbox for about a week now after installing it on my 5.5g iPod. I really enjoy the firmware and I was wondering if it was possible for rockbox to read my playlists that are already on my Apple firmware on my iPod? If there is no way to do so could someone please tell me how to make playlists that are compatible with rockbox? Will Winamp be able to make these playlists? Thanks in advance...

iTunes: No.
Winamp: Yes, though you should make the playlist from your actual device, not from your music collection on your computer.

I personally make my playlists by hand, using "find . -name *.mp3" in linux or "attrib /s *.mp3" and some editing in windows.

Alright, I guess I'll just have to remake my playlists... for the 4th time (have a total of 50ish). Thanks for the quick reply!

i use a program called xplay. it can read the ipod database and present it just like you're browing a normal window. if you click on the playlist you want, the songs show up in the next window. from there, i just highlight the whole list, drag it onto winamp, and then save the .m3u into the playlists folder on the root of my ipod. hope this helps.

Thank you Ryan, that program probably saved me 45 minutes of my life! I easily made my playlists in winamp with that program within about 15 minutes! That set a new record for me (the amount of time it took to make 50 playlists). I just finished my new theme, and now my iPod is fully loaded!
