Title: Re: Sansa Clip Zip - Can't get Rockbox to find player...
Post by: kanlaon on August 27, 2017, 12:06:19 AM
Hello,

I have a Sansa Clip+ and it is not being detected by any computer. I have tried multiple cords and usb ports as well as both MSC, MTP and AutoDetect, but nothing works. I have tried using Rockbox Utility, but it always crashes when I try and search for the Sansa Clip+, giving the message "no mountpoint given" and "Rockbox Utility has stopped working." When I try and start up the Sansa Clip+ normally by pressing the power button, it gets stuck at the Rockbox logo screen. I tried to format it through the Sansa Clip+ original firmware, but it just deleted all of my remaining music off of it. I would like to put music back onto it but I do not know how. Could anyone help me get my Sansa Clip+ working again?

Thanks,

Scott

If you have the rockbox logo it sounds like you already installed rockbox?

When you formated the device you wiped out the Rockbox install,
as for the USB issue you said you have tried multiple cords;
You also tried different ports on the computer and a different computer?

What OS + ver are the PCs you plugged into?

None of this sounds like a software issue on the player to me,
It is either a hardware issue or software issue of the PC you are plugging into.

On your PC:
With the player OFF hold LEFT on the Dpad while you plug the USB into the player does the player boot?

It should boot into the original firmware anytime you hold left at power on BTW.

NO?
With known Good USB power supply NOT PC:
IF NO, plug into a known good USB power supply, while holding LEFT does it power on now?
IF NO, try a different cord
IF NO, try wiggling the usb plug up and down just a bit not forceful just a little wiggle up/down
