winamp <--- only one i use outta the 3.
iriver firmware
anybody have any ideas on how we/somebody could make one??
-
Could you be a little more specific?
I am having difficulties in understanding you.
Could you describe that feature, again?
-
He's suggesting a tune that's played when you use Rockbox for the first time. Winamp has it's "It really whips the llama's ass" track, iRiver players have that MP3 you get with the player, etc.

IMO this is entirelyy useless but if it does get made I want it to say something like "Welcome to rockbox, RTFM" (in a nice way of course) ;)

Haha!! Hear hear!!! ;D

heh. agreed.

Actually, I think this would be a pretty neat idea. Gives RockBox a sense of class, and can act as a simple test to ensure everything is working.
Would anyone be interested in making this? I suppose a decent track/sample could be found from places such as TindeckAudio and (with the author's permission to modify it) edited and dubbed to include a voice-over.
What would be a decent script? As above, I think something along the lines of the following would be sufficient:
"Welcome to RockBox, the Open Source Jukebox Firmware. This file confirms that your player is working normally under under the new firmware. Please be sure to visit the RockBox website and read the RockBox manual before continuing."
Ideas?

"Welcome to Rockbox, the Open Source Jukebox Firmware. At the very least it has booted properly. If anything goes wrong there is a manual at the website. If you don't read it, Llorean will know, and he will let you know that he does. You have been warned."

Oh heck, if I could get someone to agree to committing a change to autoplay that, I'd even go so far as offering my own voice for the file.
-
or maybe the guy who does the voice over on the commercials? the last one i saw him on was the aflac car insurance commercial. it would be real intense
-
Er, right. What do you suppose it would cost to hire Don LaFontaine?
-
Eh, who knows: he could be a Rockbox user . . . .
;)

Haha, but then what would the mods do all day if they didn't have to watch over the install forum?

Oh you *know* we want James Earl Jones.
