Title: Voice Menus not working w/ 3.5?
Post by: buckminster on February 04, 2010, 12:42:13 PM
e260R, have used voice menus for many previous releases, but once I upgraded to 3.5 it doesn't. Downloaded the new voice file for 3.5, but it doesn't work. Voice directory .talk clips works. Suggestions?

There is no main Rockbox build for the e200r - it uses the e200 build.  So you need the voice files for the e200.

There appears to have been some confusion/bugs in the build system during the release, and an e200r voice file was created.  You should ignore this file and use the e200 version.

Out of curiousity, how did you upgrade Rockbox?   Did you use Rockbox Utility, or did you download and install the build and voice file manually?

That did the trick (getting the e200 version). Wow does the new voice suck! Sounds like someone mumbling through a pillow. BTW, I install rockbox manually, like I always do. I only use rbutil to help encode the.talk files.

Sorry about that. I generated the voice files this time, and I only installed the basic festival voice. I assume previous releases were done with a different one

Rockbox Utility can create voice files, so you can just create one with your preferred voice.

Perfect! It's been a while since I created some talk files so I forgot about creating your own voice file, too.

Thanks!
