Title: Any way to simply delete a theme you uploaded?
Post by: Frankenpod on December 31, 2015, 09:31:52 AM
I seem to keep messing up on uploading new versions of themes and so end up with multiple uploads of the same theme in the gallery.

Is there any way an uploader can completely delete the previous versions of their own submitted theme?  I now have quite a few old ones that don't need to be there.

Thanks.

No, unfortunately not. The theme site lacks a few features and doesn't really have maintainers to add those.

I suspect your best bet would be to use the "report" feature on the theme site. I know it specifically says that's only for copyright issues (I'm the last one who clarified that statement), but I think it's fine to use it for this as well (please mention exactly what you want done, and ideally what the replacement theme is. I do want to be able to do some checking to see if the request is genuine and not from some prankster).

I don't check the reported themes as often as I probably should, so if you do that you might want to send me a private message here on the forums to wake me up. I'll then get to it as soon as possible.

As an aside, I'm going to detail the process for others that may stumble across this, as apparently it may not be obvious how to replace a theme with an existing version on the theme site if you're the original author.

The newly uploaded theme will be automagically replaced by the updated version if the upload credentials (author, theme name, submitting address) are the same, if any one of those fields differ, it will be uploaded as an entirely different theme.

@gevaerts

Thanks, I will get on to that  - there's several uploads from me there that could be removed, sorry, it looks kind of unitidy.

I got confused because when you try to update a theme with exactly the same name you get that checkbox but it also clears all your upload fields and I didn't notice that and went round in circles.  The other problem I think I had is having different case letters or underlines vs spaces in the theme name making it be treated as a different theme.

[Edit]
Have reported my duff uploads.  Forgot to mention:
replacement for aberrockv2 is AberrockV2 (I hate unix case-sensitivity)
replacement for FrostBoxV2  and FrostboxV2.1 is FrostboxV2.2
replacement for BlacknBlue_Glass 2 is BlacknBlue_Glass_2
replacement for Elem_320x240 is Elem_320V1.3
replacement for BrushedMetal is BrushedMetalV1.2 (V1.1 is slightly different so perhaps might as well stay)

OK, I've removed the old themes (I've actually marked them as hidden, but the end result is effectively the same, except we can still recover if needed).

Sorry to disagree with you about case and underscores though :)
