Becuase of my weak eyes i like the theme "Big Info" from the themes page:
http://themes.rockbox.org/index.php?target=ipodvideo
Could somebody modify it for me so that it does not show the AA?
-
Actually, you can use the theme without AA. Simply don't add any to the folder with your album in it, and the WPS will adjust accordingly.
-
thnaks for your reply!
But without the AA the theme shows a CD symbol at the place of AA and the text is scrolling beside it.
What i want is to have this space used by the info text.
-
The .wps file is a plain text file, so you can simply open it up in your favorite text editor and remove the AA tags. See this page for more information:
http://www.rockbox.org/twiki/bin/view/Main/AlbumArt
-
ok, thanks, but it does not seem to work.
the BigInfo.wps looks like this:

The background image for the WPS contains the CD image, which then gets overlaid by the album art if available.
In terms of the information not appearing within/over the top of the CD image, I assume that the viewports would need to be changed.
Edit: Changed my post once I'd checked the wpsbackdrop-320x240x16.bmp image and it *does* have the CD image in it.
-
So it seems more diffcult than at the first sight.
Could somebody give it a try?
-
If you want a text only WPS you don't really need viewports. Why not just use appropriate tags to code a text only WPS?
-
i do not feel capable to code a thing like that.
-
I also would like to know how to alter this WPS as well as this is my choice of themes. It is easy to get rid of the disk picture using MS Paint but I would like to know exactly which lines of text and what changes to make to them so that the info that is displayed to the right of the Disk picture now moves over to the left.
Should be a no brainer for some of you I'm sure.
-
You'll need to change the viewports (the lines starting with %V|...) which contain the text accordingly.
For details see this page: http://www.rockbox.org/twiki/bin/view/Main/WebHome?topic=CustomWPS
-
Ok,
Need to change the viewports. On the code below, where and what changes should be made to put all the stuff that's to the right of the "Billion Dollar Babies" cover art on Big Info wps and put them left justified. Anybody want to give it a go. I've never coded anything and would appreciate the help. It should be a breeze for one of you experienced coders out there. ;)

Thanks a lot!
This should do what you want ...
Almost :-)
The text now begins at the left but still scrolls on the background of the CD symbol using only the space of the earlier AA, which is about half the length from left to right.
-
I decided to give a try and to my surprise I got it just the way I want it.
First edit the backdrop.bmp in MS Paint and get rid of the disk picture.
And below is the editted code.

Let me know what you think, Surfer
-
Nice one, Avalanche. ;D
In my opinion, this is one of the (many) strengths of Rockbox - how editable it is. And although the wps coding may look daunting, it's not all that tricky if you're prepared to jump in and have a go.
-
Thanks evilnick,
I'm quite happy how my first try worked out. Hopefully Surfer got the results he was looking for as well.
I've gotta say that Rockbox has given me a new appreciation for my Ipod since installing it. Like having a brand new mp3 player.

@Alvalanche:
Your edit seems almost perfect :-)
Description of the theme:
Icons Line 1: Replaygain, Crossfade, Repeat mode, Shuffle, Disk activity. [Time | bitrate | battery time | Sleep Timer (if active)].
Replaygain:
On your edit i do not see the icon replaygain(on the original theme it is there):
I have Replaygain put to "track gain", all my tracks have album&track gain analysed
Sleep Timer:
And neither on your edit nor on the original i can see anything for the value "sleep timer":
- my "LCD Settings/Sleep (after backlight off)" are at 20 min and
- my "System/Idle power-off" at 30 min.
green & blue font:
Would it be possible to change the color of the green and blue font to white?
-
Anybody like to input on this? What line and what changes to be made?
I was lucky to get as far as I did. Maybe together we can get it perfect.
-
This should give you some clues:
Replay Gain:
%rg http://www.rockbox.org/twiki/bin/view/Main/CustomWPS#Runtime_Database_and_Replaygain
Sleep Timer:
%bs http://www.rockbox.org/twiki/bin/view/Main/CustomWPS#Power_Related_Information
Font colours:
%V (look at the last two parameters) http://www.rockbox.org/twiki/bin/view/Main/CustomWPS#Viewports Green would look like 00FF00, and white would be FFFFFF
-
Text color is defined by the fgcolor part of the viewport. Below are two vieports, one defining blue text, one green.
Blue (8080FF):
%V|0|157|300|23|1|8080FF|000000|
Green (00FF00):
%V|0|185|189|25|0|00FF00|000000|
FFFFFF would be fully white, so all you have to do is change the fgcolor hex value to FFFFFF
-
I think I have it, Hows this:
-
thanks a lot once more for your help :-)
@creativesansa333:
Did you edit the Sleep Timer as well? i do not see it on your pic.
-
Yes, I did include it, it alternates with other information on the bottom of the screen but it does show when you first enter the now playing screen. Do you want the files? I have them uploaded to Mediafire.
-
Sure, thanks a lot, i'd be very glad to get your edit :-)
Do you maybe have an idea how to implement the "BPM"-Info into this WPS? I have the BPM counted for all my tracks already. So it is about showing it only. I asked about it in this topic already:
http://forums.rockbox.org/index.php?topic=20551.0
-
http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?rkddofywwwn
That is the address for the files. I don't know how to implement BPM information into the WPS. I'm not sure if there is a way yet. I learned all my stuff about how to make a WPS from a guide and it wasn't mentioned in there. Maybe someone else could tell you that hasn't answered your post in the forums yet. I will keep searching for how to implement BPM information, though.

A *twisted* but feasible solution could be to use the "Comment" ID3 tag to place the BPM info, and then display it in the WPS using %iC. Of course, you would have to use a program like Mp3tag (http://download.cnet.com/Mp3tag/3000-2141_4-10313616.html?tag=mncol) to "move" the BPM info there, and the comment field in your audio files would be sacrificed. (edit: unless the BPM info would be "added" to the existing comment)
-
Thanks a lot! :-)
Sleep Timer
But i still do not see the info about the "sleep time". Where do you have it? And what setting of rockbox does it exactly reflect?
- my "LCD Settings/Sleep (after backlight off)" are at 20 min and
- my "System/Idle power-off" at 30 min.
BPM:
and the comment field in your audio files would be sacrificed.
and this is exactly what i do not want to.
Hopefully some solution in the near future is going to appear.
-
Read about sleep timer here: http://download.rockbox.org/manual/rockbox-ipodvideo/rockbox-buildch5.html#x8-1010005.11
-
@Chronom: perfect! thanks a lot. I confused those settings. Now everything is OK and i can see the sleep timer setting on the WPS.
-
The "Big Info" theme stopped to work with the current version of rockbox on my iPod Video.
@Avalanche:
Would't you care about adapting your superb work on the current version?
-
The "Big Info" theme stopped to work with the current version of rockbox on my iPod Video.
Given the fact that the syntax was recently completely changed this isn't surprising :)
