Title: Database & Overall Performance Issue [iPod 5G Video]
Post by: ptrk.mj on July 29, 2010, 12:36:32 PM
Hello!

I have a problem with a database. I get message "Database is not ready/ Initialize Now" although the database have already been initialized. Then if I press SELECT iPod freezes on "Building database... 0 found (PREV to return)"

Here I will try to reproduce what I've done before the error occured.

1. Restore iPod in iTunes
2. Add some mp3 files (ID3v2.3 UTF-16 + ID3v1)
3. Install bootloader+current build via Rockbox Utility
4. Initialized database
5. Shutdown/Reboot (I tried both)
6. Commited database

The firmware as a whole seems very buggy. It "freezes" in various places so I have to reboot all the time.

Any suggestions?

Every time I've had problems with the database freezing while building it has been due to some screwed up ID3 tags. So, check your tags...

The Useful Tools (http://www.rockbox.org/wiki/UsefulTools) page has some good tools for tagging (I recommend MP3tag).
