Post by: Boyz_N_The_Hood on September 02, 2007, 03:02:16 AM: Someone (another iPod modder) told me that it was possible to get my 5.5.gen 30gig ipod to record stuff by installing rockbox. At the time i had no idea what rockbox was so i got to lookin for it around the net. i found this place and seen it had a recording forum, so yea now i beleive him. im a complete noob to Rockbox but have sucsessfully installed the rockbox firmware.....

My question is where to go from here for recording....any help and input would be much appreciated...

2) Rockbox runs on many players, some of which have recording, some don't. I'm not sure whether the iPod video does or not. An iPod guru will be able to tell us.

Post by: GodEater on September 02, 2007, 07:06:00 AM: The iPod video does have recording - you need an adaptor to plug in to the dock connector which is where the line-in on the iPod is.

This suggests that recording through the headphone jack is possible on these particular units -- i.e. that the hardware can support it.

They surface from time to time on ebay & the like
