Title: BMW Controls
Post by: woodycm on October 05, 2004, 10:44:40 PM
Probably a foolish question, but...

I have the BMW auxillary component installed, but am wondering if there is any way that I can control my archos, with Rockbox installed, by using the stero controls, ala the Ipod?

I'm currently using the controls on the archos to skip tracks, etc. but the Ipod allows the use of the track controls on the stereo head unit and steering wheel controls.

Thanks.

The BMW Ipod Interface is connected to the I-Bus / CD-Changer port and not the auxillary port, but there is a modified rockbox version that can be connected to the I-Bus.

Look at http://ctp.di.fct.unl.pt/~fpb/ibus/

Good day.

I took a look over at the BimmerBox site.  It looks very interesting, however, the link to the hardware interface was missing.  Would you happen to have a pointer to a working Archos <--> IBus interface?

I did see some possible designs in the file archive on the HackTheIBus yahoogroup, however, I couldn't tell if one was prefered over another.

It would be very slick to get my 6000 completely interfaced to my MINI and free up the aux input for other devices.
