Title: Recording - basic question
Post by: DeepBlueEditor on March 06, 2007, 06:05:26 PM
I have an H320 on the way from Ebay.  Assuming it isn't DOA, I am looking forward to using it as a field recorder for short film pieces I like doing.  Using RockBox, how do I add the Recording Enhancements Pack mention on this forum, or is it built in to the standard daily build?

I would like a good set of meters and indicators of the format I am recording as well as record time and available remaining record time amongst other goodies.  If I can have those as LED style bar graphs that are fairly large and a bright color, like red or orange against black, so much the better.

Is this something that is fairly easy to create on my own or does anyone have suggestions for a mod that is already like this?  Looking forward to learning more as I go along.  Unit should be here this week.

If there are relevant links, please feel free to point them out.  I probably missed quite a few.  Also, are there links to screen caps of the various mods in action?

Thanks,

Sean

To use the Recording enhancements pack you either need to patch and build your own rockbox, there are guides for this in the wiki SimpleGuideToCompiling for example. Or you can try to find an unofficial build for your player that already includes it. The same is tru for any other "mods" too.

To change any aspect of the recording screen's apperance you will have to find a patch that does what you want or do actual programming your self, it is not very customizable by default but it does include lots of usefull info. Please take a look in the manual to find better descriptions of the various features of rockbox.
