Title: "select" and "A" change on gigabeat.
Post by: bezoomy on September 08, 2007, 10:28:42 PM
Before the keymap change you could press "A" to leave the wps and view the file browser without pausing the song and then press "A" again to return to the wps.

Now you have to press the "select" button to leave the wps and if you press "select" again to return to the wps you restart the song or select a new song. If you want to return without restarting/selecting a new song  you press the "A" button or go Left to main menu, select currently playing.

wasn't it easier to just have one button the "A" button, leave and return to the wps?

holding the player in your left hand it seems very easy to use the "A" key. You still use "A" to pause so you can't do everything with your thumb anyway. Also using the centre of the cross to pause/play  seemed way more intuitive.

There is already a thread on this topic:  http://forums.rockbox.org/index.php?topic=12407

Why did you start a new thread on this?

But honestly: Deal with it. That's the way it is on other players, and I didn't say you can do everything, just more with the cross than you could before. It does increase the amount you can do in the UI with just the cross.

If you want/need to say more, do it in the proper thread.

The change enables you to do more one handed, and also brings the gigabeat to be the same as on the other players.  The fact the gigbeat was originally different was an anomaly.
