Title: SansaAMSUnbrick Wiki page: can someone add my photo for Clip Zip?
Post by: iuser on February 17, 2016, 05:16:03 PM
Hi,

unfortunately the flash has gone bad from my Sandisk Sansa Clip Zip. But at least I could figure out how to enter the recovery mode. It is not in the Wiki yet and should be added. Actually I am to lazy to request a wiki account only for this ;-). It is meant as an addition to this page: http://www.rockbox.org/wiki/SansaAMSUnbrick

Here it is:
(if you open the image you will get a the original size).

Note that the grey stuff around the display is adhesive, so be careful. There is also a ribbon cable that goes from the buttons to the connector beneath the Sandisk logo. So carefully lift the grey bar to release the flat flex cable and then remove the front case.

I could only see a 32 MB partition, but on a working one this could be different.

Thanks

Some helpful notes on taking apart the device

First remove the sdcard.

The case is held by little plastic clips around the perimeter start on the top corner
on the same side as the sdslot I use my thumbnail and a piece of credit card DON'T
pry over the sdslot it will break.

Once you have the top bottom and side un-clipped the device opens like a book the
charge port and volume buttons would be the spine you don't need to
pry this side unlike the below video shows

Similar to opening this clip+:

When you get the device open be careful of the battery wires at the bottom

There is a small clip on the right top that holds the circuit board you need to pull the
board from the bottom after removing the screws

The screen is held to the case with foam tape and is glass be very careful removing the board
