Title: My Sansa MP3 player wont install RockBox because it has the wrong configuration
Post by: Wickedpuppetierman on November 15, 2008, 08:32:08 PM
I've tried installing Rockbox and for some reason my MP3 player wont let me do it. I have a Sansa e250. It says something about having the wrong configuration or something like that. Please help.
Thanks!

Try giving us the actual whole error message, since they're there for a reason. We can help more then.

Ok...It says Your configuration is invalid. This is most likely due to a change in device path. The configuration dialog will now open to allow you to correct the problem. Then it opens and I click my MP3 player and it repeats what it just said. I'm So cunfused!

Thanks for helping.

What do you mean, exactly, by "I click my MP3 player"?

A single click shouldn't cause it to do anything. And have you tried using the auto-detect option?

It really weird... I press the complete installation on the Rockbox utility and it says "Your configuration is invalid. Please go to the configuration dialog and make sure the selected values are correct.

And have you gone to the configuration dialog, and made sure all the values are correct?

I've gone unto the page but I don't know what to do with it. I've tried messing with it but it still gives me the configuration problem message.

What happens when you try the auto-detect?

I seriously need you to be clear with "what I've done, what exactly I click on, and what it tells me when I do." It's impossible for me to know what you mean when you say "I've tried messing with it."

Sorry. Ok, First what I did was I clicked the Rockbox icon on my desktop. Then a message appears that says "Your configuration is invalid. This is most likely due to a changed device path. The configuration dialog will now open to allow to correct the problem.

Then I clicked "ok".

Then a box appears and it says "Select your device in the filesystem." And it has a blank box to type in. Then right below that it says "Select your audio player" I then clicked Sansa e200 and then ok. Then it says "Your configuration is invalid. This is most likely due to a changed device path. The configuration dialog will now open to allow to correct the problem." again. I don't know what I'm doing wrong. I'm sorry I was being so unspecific before.

So you never told the program where to find the device in the filesystem.

have you tried the autodetect button like I suggested earlier?

Lower right hand corner of the configuration screen where you pick your device and device path.

Ok, I installed it now It won't let me add music or games or anything. It says the path and configuration is messed up again.

Is the player showing up as a drive?

I go to my computer and click on the Sansa MP3 player and for some reason it says "Choose the program you want to use to open the file with." I have no idea whether it is showing up as a device or not. But when I first plugged it back in it said it had discovered new hardware.

Whenever I replug-in my MP3 player it says "Exception Processing Message c0000013 Parameters 75b6bf9c 4 75b6bf9c 75b6bf9c."

It shouldn't show a sansa MP3 player. It should show two drives (one for the player and one for the microSD drive).
Are you sure it's in MSC mode right now?

Is it really that hard to find the informations about Rockbox Utility? Is it even hard to find the simple graphical walkthrough at GraphicalInstall (http://www.rockbox.org/wiki/GraphicalInstall)? None of the download pages links to Rockbox Utility directly but all go to its wiki page, and we expect you to read that before asking questions ...
