Title: Stops at Rockbox Loaded.
Post by: Blackstaffe on April 21, 2007, 02:11:03 AM
I installed Rockbox and now it goes to the boot screen and says Loading Rockbox... and the Rockbox loaded. and then just stops. Any help would be appreciated.

What build did you install, and what bootloader?

Nevermind I just had to go back a few versions of rockbox.gigabeat files. Thanks anyway.

"going back a few versions" isn't a proper fix, and if there is a real problem working around it will not fix it. If everyone would work around problems in Rockbox by using old versions bugs wouldn't get discovered or fixed at all.

I guess your bootloader is outdated -- there was a recent change that broke the current builds for the bootloader. A new bootloader should be available for download soon (maybe it's already) at the usual location, the svn changelog tells where to find a compiled bootloader for the meantime.

Just to make it 100% clear - all Gigabeat users need to update to the latest bootloader (available via the link in the install section of the manual) in order to use current Rockbox builds.

You should update both the bootloader and the .rockbox folder at the same time - i.e. connect your gigabeat to your computer, copy the new FWIMG01.DAT, extract a current rockbox.zip, unattach, then power-cycle your player with the battery switch.

If your Gigabeat freezes with the "Rockbox loaded" message, that means you have an old bootloader with the new Rockbox.  You need to power-cycle your gigabeat, and hold MENU as it boots.  This will put you into rescue mode and you can attach your Gigabeat via USB and copy the latest FWIMG01.DAT

This happened to me today (locked on the RockBox screen).
Glad you guys built in that interrupt, or I could not have fixed it.
There was no way to get the Gigabeat to recognize on my computer so I could repair the bootloader without this tip.
By the way, did I mention that you guys ROCK!
This $100 Gigabeat F40 with your software is a great value.
THANKS!
