Title: [Xduoo X3] Can't get menu items to talk and .talk files crash
Post by: IdahoBlind on December 24, 2016, 04:34:47 AM
Hi all

Hope someone can help. I have previously installed rockbox on a Sansa clip for a friend of mine. I got the menu files and the folder and filenames to talk no problem. The sansa died and I picked up the Xduoo x3 to serve the same function, but be a bit of an upgrade (more space for full music and audiobook library).

Unfortunately I can't get the files to talk perfectly. Firstly I can't seem to get the menu items to speak at all. Secondly I can get the device to read the individual folders and files (albums and songs, etc) but it seems to crash after scrolling through a few spoken menus - giving an error of *PANIC* Stkov voice. I initially created the .talk files on Voicebox with LAME - but those didn't work, so I recreated them with Speex - and they are sounding good - but crashing after 4 or 5 voiced file names.

Any tips anyone?

This particular port seems to have been a strange one - looking in from a distance. Not really sure what the full story is - but it seems that someone took open source at face value and tinkered about - possibly without speaking much to the team of people here?
