Title: Japanese C240 - sansapatcher/rbutilqt won't work
Post by: TheJF on December 31, 2008, 12:53:48 AM
Hi,

I've recently bought a Sansa C240 from a local store and I'm currently living in Japan.  Since the original firmware is being quite spotty, I thought I'd try Rockbox but unfortunately it seems that it can't be detected.  I have the device set in "MSC" mode (UMS, really), and the drive letter and such pops up, but whenever I try to install the Rockbox bootloader, sansapatcher and Rockbox Utility both say there's no Sansa device detected.

I checked my firmware version and it's actually 01.01.01J, which I couldn't find anything on the forum about.  Is it possible that the Rockbox installer ignores C240s with Japanese firmwares?

Sansapatcher doesn't ignore firmwares per se, but it's most likely that we don't have the required information to read and patch that firmware version in the code for Sansapatcher.

You can hop onto our IRC channel (#rockbox on Freenode) and maybe speak to a developer about this, and maybe be able to help us get the required mi4 key for this version, so we can add it to Sansapatcher.

(EDIT): Upon reading the source for Sansapatcher, we indeed do not have the required mi4 key for OF version 01.01.01. You may have to roll back your firmware version or upgrade to a supported version; see this page for more details:
