Hi all,
I purchased a JB 5000 on ebay. It works well. It came preloaded with quite a bit of music. Everything seem up to par with the player.
The problem is loading the USB drivers. I have no disk...it's the only thing that didn't come with it.
I went to the Archos website and got the only USB driver file available. So far, I have tried setting it up on 3 different computers (2 xp, 1 98se). All of them recognize the player is there and vice-versa, but none of them will allow the drivers to load. (I also got the drivers from driverguide.com, but they wouldn't work either).
The closest I have come so far is on an XP machine. It sets it up but won't assign a drive letter.
I called Archos and sat on hold for more than 2 hours only to find out that driver package will not work for the JB 5000. They would not help me out as the 5000 is no longer supported.
Can someone please help me out with where to get the drivers or possibly email them to me?????? Please!
I ahve read this site top to bottom and found a lot of others have had this same problem, but nobody ever gave the solution.
Please end my misery!
Chuck

Partial success!
After an hour and a half trying to install the above drivers on my main XP machine I gave up.
I packed up the JB and went to my 98se machine. The drivers went in instantly! Yea!!!
I at least now have a way to access the JB, but I have to pull my music through the network.
I'd still like a suggestion for loading in XP drivers.
Thanks for the help so far!
Chuck :)
