hello rb people,
i already posted this feature request on flyspray
but i think that it didnt reach anyone...
well... maybe it would be a nice add-on to have also
the possibility to split the file when
the level falls below a certain dB value for a
definded time.
for example:
make a new file when level
is below -24dB for 3 seconds.
this would be great for having seperate
files per track when recording an album from
any analog or even digital source.
or when recording a rehearsal or whatever...
greets
polluxx

The forums are not the proper place for feature requests. As you said you posted it on Flyspray, and that is where it belongs.
Realize that most of the devs have things they're working on that they feel is more relevant or more their concern. Just because a feature request is put up there doesn't mean it'll happen. And just because it doesn't receive replies doesn't mean nobody saw it.

youre perfectly right... well i thought i can "spread the idea"
maybe a bit more because i think it would be a real
useful thing... what do you personally think?
-
i think its a great idea. I use a nano which cant record, but I used to have a minidisc player that did exactly what you described. Found it very useful to have it auto split tracks.
Damn shame Nano cant record. not in rockbox anyway, due to not being able to communicate with external add-ons. :(
Surely someone can bribe an insider at apple for the hardware info. ;D
-
Well, Rockbox already has this feature on the Archos models. It's "only" a matter of porting the functionality to the software codec targets.
-
... OT alert ...
Surely someone can bribe an insider at apple for the hardware info. Â ;D
Sure. You provide the contact address and the money. Deal? :P

I thought the dock connector in all the ipods had a line-in which works?
-
Think they do. But rockbox cant access them. Have to use the apple firmware. Feel free to correct me. ;)
-
oh? i thought linuxstb got it working?

I recall him saying a couple of months ago that he was able to record something, but he hasn't posted anything to the patch tracker or CVS yet, as far as I know.

It's been there a couple of weeks: http://www.rockbox.org/tracker/task/6096

Wow, I completely missed that. Time to build or buy a line-in dock connector!
