Well after having following this very closely since about december I can finnaly install rockbox. Or so I thought. My immediate thought was to read the rockbox manual and install it that way. Basicly all i did was install the Rockbox zip file. Then I found installation instructions in he wiki i think it was. Anyways heres whatsup
I have been trying for about an hour to install rock. I have the zip installed correctly and have copied allot of files to my system folder none of which have caused my player to act any different (thankfully)
What file exactly is supposed to be copied to the /System/ directory?

Follow the instructions here, very very carefully.

aye, the mi4 decrypting is absolutely necessary so that you can access the device on your PC after Rockbox installation. I got it working on the second try.
However, it's still at a pretty buggy stage. I'm getting data aborts on Ogg Vorbis playback. I know it's still early days so these bugs will surely be worked out in the coming weeks. :)

can we just get a copy of the of.bin for download somehwere?

I made step 4 slightly more clear (at least I hope, I don't have a sansa to try it on!).

Ty!
But i still don't understand! :'( :'( :'(
How do i decript it?? Where exactly did i have to put "mi4code decrypt -s SKU_E-PP5022.mi4 OF.bin"?
TY!
While you answer i will go see if there's tylenol somewhere... ;D

O.K. I'm going to try and take a stab at walking through the decryption process so its a little clearer for people who are unfamiliar with Command Prompt.
After you download the mi4 code program, you need to extract it to C:\mi4code\.
Then you need to copy the original firmware you downloaded earlier to same directory.
Next you need to open command prompt and navigate to C:\mi4code\ (you can do this by typing "cd C:\mi4code\" without the quotations).
In the command prompt window then enter "mi4code decrypt -s xxxxx.mi4 OF.bin" (where xxxxx.mi4 is the name of the firmware file (i.e. PP5022.mi4), this will decrypt the firmware and produce a file named OF.bin
The rest is self-explainatory.

OK ty ive done with the first step! And another thing (I really want to be sure lol) how do i put my mp3 in non-recovering mode?? What's the recovering mode exactly? Is it when the sansa boost? And whats the "root directory"? The place where i see folders like "Music" and "Videos"?
TY!

Does the RockBox firmware offer alternative audio codec compatibility ie: FLAC or WMA PRO lossless ?
-
FLAC yes, WMA of any sort, no.

Thanks will use FLAC on e280 with 4GB SD card = 12GB with lossless FLAC audio it will be the the best :)
