Audio Playback, Database and Playlists / An album that plays from the DB but not from the File Browser
« Last post by iPodVT on Today at 12:15:29 AM »I have an album on my iPods that will play when accessed via the Database or via the Playlists Catalog, but it won't play when accessed via the File Browser. The album contains eight tracks. I've tried clicking on each individual track from within the File Browser but none of them will play. This happens in both the recent experimental dev build ab2af16c7c-240415 running on an iPod mini 2nd Gen and also on dev build 52e22b253d-240329 running on an iPod Video 5.5 Gen.
Here is the 'real' text of the full path to the first track in the album:
/_dtgLIB/The City Of London Chamber Orchestra; Thomas McIntosh, Organ, Harpsichord & Conductor/English Music By Purcell, Arne, Stanley, Chilcot/01 Purcell: "King Arthur," Suite for Strings.m4a
Here is the text of the full path to the same track as it is displayed in the File Browser:
/_dtgLIB/The City Of London Chamber Orchestra; Thomas McIntosh, Organ, Harpsichord & Conductor/English Music By Purcell, Arne, Stanley, Chilcot/01 Purcell_ _King Arthur,_ Suite for Strings.m4a
When I click on any of these tracks in the File Browser, Rockbox shifts to the WPS as expected. Under "Now Playing" it displays the title and artist of the album's last track, and for the album it just displays _dtgLIB which is the name of my main music directory - located in the root directory - containing the vast majority of the music on my iPods. Both iPods have the exact same music libraries synced from the same source. The last track's title is displayed with the substitute characters (as in the full pathname cited above), whereas when I play the same track via the Database or the Playlists Catalog the track's title is displayed with the 'real' text, not with the substitute characters. Also, the start/current time and end time under the Play progress bar are both 0:00 and there is nothing displayed under "Next Track" (of course).
When I long click on any of these tracks in the File Brower and choose "Show Track Info" from the Context Menu, I get the error message "File/Dir not found" followed by as much of the pathname as will fit in the error message box. When I long click on the album's directory in the File Browser and choose Properties from the Context Menu I get a display of all the correct info for the directory, including its correct full pathname.
So, is there something about the text of the album's title that is causing this problem? I'm pretty sure there lots of other tracks in my music library with longer pathnames.

Other - Installation/Removal / Re: Surfans F20 "NAND open error"
« Last post by GraFfiX on April 18, 2024, 07:22:54 PM »Ok, so the LCD configuration is in firmware/target/mips/ingenic_x1000/erosqnative/lcd-erosqnative.c. Vertical/horizontal flip is controlled by this command:Code: [Select]/* Set Address Mode */
LCD_INSTR_CMD, 0x36,
LCD_INSTR_DAT, 0xd8,
The data byte is what controls the orientation. Bit 7 = vertical flip, bit 6 = horizontal flip. The "inverted" build is just a horizontal flip, so 0xd8 becomes 0x98. Bit 3 is RGB/BGR order, so changing that may help fix the colors.
Another thing you can try is adding the "display invert on" command (0x21), assuming the default is non-inverted; maybe also try 0x20 "display invert off" just in case it defaults to on for some reason.Code: [Select]// vvv add this
LCD_INSTR_CMD, 0x21,
// ^^^
/* Exit Sleep */
LCD_INSTR_CMD, 0x11,
LCD_INSTR_UDELAY, 120000,
/* Display On */
LCD_INSTR_CMD, 0x29,
LCD_INSTR_UDELAY, 20000,
LCD_INSTR_END,
To stop the display from going to sleep you can comment out / remove the code in lcd_tgt_sleep(), the backlight will still turn off but the controller will keep running normally.
I don't remember if dconrad ever figured out what the display controller was... not that it would help since you could have a different one, but most of them support a similar command set (called MIPI DCS) and you can check eg. the ILI9341 datasheet for info.
Thanks! That worked beautifully. I set the address mode instr_dat to 0x98, and added instr_cmd 0x21 per your instructions, everything is displayed properly now. I haven't tested the sleep fix yet, but I will report back when I do.

Audio Playback, Database and Playlists / Database/Tagnavi: Possible to have “Songs never played”?
« Last post by rockboxswede on April 18, 2024, 02:02:42 PM »Hi,
First and foremost - Thank you so much for the Rockbox project and all hard work and dedication that has made it possible. I have it running on my iPod and it works great!
I have (by guessing and luck) managed to change the tagnavi to give me some great “smart playlists”. I have tried countless of times to have a playlist with conditions are play count = 0 and rating = 0. But I have never succeeded.
Does anybody here have a playlist such as the one requested? Is it possible to do?
(I have one playlist with songs with play count greater than 0 and rating greater than 0 which works. But changing the “greater than lesser than” signs does not work.)
Thanks in advance!

Announcements / Calling all translators...
« Last post by speachy on April 18, 2024, 09:22:09 AM »We're trying to get ready for a major release, and as part of that, the more complete we can have our translations, the better!
As of this writing, we only have 12 translations with at least 90% coverage; of those about half are missing only a couple of strings. Not so coincidentally, translations with at least 90% coverage also get added to the daily voice file builds!
Meanwhile, about another dozen translations have around 80% coverage, and another dozen over 60%. Finally, seven more translations are in pretty bad shape.
Head over to https://translate.rockbox.org/ to see the current state of affairs, and to contribute changes to existing translations or even new ones.
Oh, to prevent duplicated effort, please post here (and/or in IRC) what you are working on.
The Rockbox Utility also needs updated translations, but we don't have a convenient mechanism to contribute those yet.
Thanks!

New Ports / Re: Fiio X1
« Last post by Taxicletter on April 18, 2024, 05:34:05 AM »I understand there's good mp3 players for the same price, but I have a Fiio X1 (second edition), so it would be nice to be able to use RockBox on that.
Does this answer mean that, although slowly, someone indeed is working on this port?

I read somewhere that it is possible to close the contacts on Samsung chip on inner plate and somwhen it could help, so I'll try to find out more about. Otherwise it seems that I have to find the donor or buy the whole player.
Read the link above. Apparently you need a special flasher, a set of relevant drivers (probably on some old version of windows) and shorting 2 pins on the memory chip. I don't have the flasher and the drivers unfortunately though.

Repairing and Upgrading Rockbox Capable Players / Re: iPod Mini 2G Dramatic difference in battery life
« Last post by speachy on April 16, 2024, 10:29:09 AM »I have installed ab2af16c7c-240415 onto my 2nd Gen mini with CF->SD adapter. At the outset I'm seeing
SSD detected: yes
Power mgmt: unsupported
This is what I expected.
Should I first see how long it will run with the Apple firmware as a benchmark, and then run this test version of Rockbox? I figure I should do the Apple version first in case any corruption results from running the Rockbox version.
I'd expect battery life to not be so great with this, but the more important thing is to ensure there's no data corruption. copy files over to it, do a database update, generally abuse things.
