Assuming you're on linux, and that you're using rbutil, try using sudo or running as root.

One of the two possible installers you could have used.

Please describe exactly what you did. Please also post the output of the Help / Troubleshoot / System Trace dialog after your failed installation. You need to save that output before closing Rockbox Utility.

That's the short name for Rockbox Utility.

Do NOT use wine for running ANY of the installation tools. It will break, and is a terribly bad idea. We do provide our installer tools on all major operating systems, you really don't need to do this.

Does the Apple firmware run on your Ipod?

tried to install bootloader in rockbox utility message "could not open ipod"

Please post the output of the Help / Troubleshoot / System Info and System Trace dialog after the error occured. Are you running Rockbox Utility as root? Bootloader installation for Ipods requires this.

I'm really not motivated asking for the same thing again and again. If you don't want help I'll stop responding. For the last time (and quoting myself again):

Please post the output of the Help / Troubleshoot / System Info and System Trace dialog after the error occured.

You can attach the file. You can also post it to a service like http://pastebin.ca and post the link here. The system info dialog, however, is only a couple of lines.

Please check the filesystem type on the Ipod. From checking the log resolving the device node from the mount point failed, which happens if the Ipod uses a filesystem different to FAT.
Apart from that, you are running Rockbox Utility as normal user. Installing the bootloader on Ipods requires direct access to the device node. Users usually don't have this, which means that you need to run Rockbox Utility as root (or using sudo). This is only needed for bootloader installation.

file system?? do you mean Linux and windows and mac.
mine is unknown format os, thats because i formated as compatible with linux.
and it says unknown instead of windows or mac.

Open a terminal window, and type "mount". Look for a line that contains the mountpoint of your Ipod (/media/ipod from the System Trace). Check if that line has "type vfat" in it. If not, you formatted the Ipod with the wrong filesystem, and Rockbox cannot work on it unless you change that. Rockbox requires a FAT formatted Ipod (shown as "vfat" in the "mount" output).
