As it seems I have finally decided to move back to the original firmware of my toshiba MEGF40, but what I have found is I can not, I have tried all procedures but its seems my oriingal firmware and other stuff have gone missing. Now I get an error of no system found on HDD, and impossible to install ever.
Now I am thinking a few solutions, maybe some files or people who have original firmware who can supply me? I do not know what to do please someone assist me.

Sounds like something happened to the original bootloader. If you browser to GBSYSTEM/FWIMG you should see FWIMG01.DAT and hopefully FWIMG01.DAT.ORIG. If you want to go back to the original firmware you need to delete the FWIMG01.DAT and rename the FWIMG01.DAT.ORIG back to FWIMG01.DAT.
If that still gives you problems please post again. I've got a few other possible solutions in my head.
Just out of curiosity, why is it that you decided to go back to the original firmware?

I need those files, somehow they got deleted? I only want to go back to original firmware, to let my cousin burrow this MP3 player for awhile, he is going on a few trips and I felt bad he had none, but I hate to give him rockbox as its not easy to know right away. Anyway someone can upload theres, would it work on myn.
-
I'm not entirely sure if someone else's would work on yours. I'm pretty sure it depends on whether or not they had the same version of firmware as you. Did you ever use the original firmware with gigabeat room? If you did, you may be in luck. If you browse to the installation path of C:/Program Files/Gigabeat Room or something like that, there should be a GBSYSTEM folder in there somewhere. I can't remember exactly where though. Make sure you can view hidden and system folders under folder options. Well that GBSYSTEM folder contains a few backup items that may be enough to allow you to boot. I'm not sure though. Try it out and see.

Sadly I do not any old files, is there anyway to erase that loading of rockbox in the beginning, that way I can send it in and they will fix it for me
-
Not without the old bootloader, no.
-
Do you know what type of firmware you had? I've got 3.000 US.
If you really want to try, I can send you my original back up of the GBSYTEM folder. The problem is if your gigabeat isn't updated to 3.000 US it will most likely cause more problems.
-
well anyway you can give me dates of when they were released, if 3.00 is newest then most likely that is the one I have, but the issue is everytime I turn it on it boots into rockbox, anyway to change that, it goes to error but starts in rockbox.

*UPDATE* I currently have found my original disc it says that Gigabeat Room 2.02 US, so where can I go from here, I am sorry I am pretty computer savvy but this is actually confusing me and nothing else is working.
-
I'm somewhat sure you have to have gigabeat room installed onto your computer but it may have the files necessary on the disk. Try browsing the disk for a GBSYSTEM folder. If you can't find it, you'll have to install gigabeat room. Make sure you've got it so you can view hidden and system folders.
If you want, I could send you my 3.0000US GBSYSTEM folder and you can see if it works.

try that I pmed you my email

I have solved the problem, I had my brother give me his old file of 2.02 US Toshiba, it helped a lot and instantly worked again, so that was the problem I guess, took forever to find it.
-
Excellent!! Glad it's working.
-
Just wanted to thank you for helping me, glad to see even though I am going from the OS, you guys still help. Plus once I get it back I am going back to Rockbox so i will make sure to make many backups.

i have the same problem, but i cant find the gbsystem files anywhere, can you send me yours (all the files, fonts and fwimg) i have version 3 us, my mail is linkin360@gmail.com, i want to go back to use the backup usb device function
-
... i want to go back to use the backup usb device function
gevaerts (the guy who is working on the USB stack) has ordered a Gigabeat F and plans to work on USB host support as soon as he gets it. Let's hope he will be finished before you get the old firmware back on your player :)

i'll try the files Phalangees send me, thanks, and if that usb host thing works i'll go back to rockbox
