that's true, but gigabeat having the same orientation definitely helps here and i think your design looks perfect for any "portrait" screen.

there's nothing really to be added here, just making everything a little bigger while keeping the font the same might work as well (176×220 is not that far behind 240x320 anyway).

again, if you need any help, please do let know...

Hello guys, I'm sorry long time no answer.

Thanks for support. I was a little busy and I'm currently working on another Sansa skin. It will be really gorgeously, if you like my style.

Sansa Rockbox firmware doesn't support audio so far, so there's no any point to use skins.

Also may be theme will be ported to other players. But I think the simples way with iPod Nano =)

please please please port the old one to the gigabeat target (is Nano really simpler to do?). this way we can test and improve it before Sansa gets the audio support.

well, can't wait to see your new work as well.  ;)

Well guys, sansa port's got sound. And I'm pretty sure it became usable enough. My theme's based on these 5 patches only:

multifont FB4733 (http://www.rockbox.org/tracker/task/4733)
multifont-userfonts FB5901 (http://www.rockbox.org/tracker/task/5901)
customline FB5900 (http://www.rockbox.org/tracker/task/5900)
custom_display_width FB5898 (http://www.rockbox.org/tracker/task/5898)
custom_list_position FB5899 (http://www.rockbox.org/tracker/task/5899)

If some one could help me to adapt them for current SVN it would be a good help  ::)

do you just need a custom build or are the patches out of sync?  I might be able to try to do a custom build, but I don't think I have enough coding knowledge otherwise.

By The Way, That's an incredible WPS.

I know about some custom builds, the most suitable is jBuild by Julius, but it's out of date. Others contain unnecessary patches. The problem is that I'm not so familiar with rockbox code now, but I'm sure I will one day =)

Post by: digerati1338 on March 17, 2007, 12:26:12 AM
I looked at the patches you listed and some of them look like they're out of sync with SVN.  I don't know how to fix that so until someone can update them I don't think I can help you.

I have done a custom build for myself with my own splash screen but that is the extent of my knowledge right now.

I've already synced multifont & multifont-userfonts, but others yet

I'm sorry, may be I chose wrong way using unsupported functions, though it's hard to create something really worth without minimal text formatting ability.

Is there some reason that this WPS can't be hosted on the WpsGallery wiki page?

Please note the guidelines for this forum:

Quote
This is NOT a WPS gallery, and WPSes should not be attached to your posts. Instead post them in the appropriate place in the wiki. Attached WPSes will be deleted.

Please move the attached files to the wiki.  I will be deleting them from this thread once you have had the opportunity to do so.

Actually there's rather different reason why I haven't uploaded it to the gallery yet. First I haven't finished it, there're some bugs I cannot deal within so far. For example one bug is due to multifont patch, I purposely set rockbox-default (there're much better fonts with linespacing) font in the browser, temporary, otherwise if the text line is wider than the screen width another scrolling text line appears with different font instead of scrolling the first one. I thought it'll be fine with rockbox-default font and I was wrong, even this font doesn't solve the issue. And so on...

I gonna change play/stop/pause button pictures as well as to add ability to skip albumart displaying if there's no such.

I was asking for hosting in purpose to keep some where the necessary build with patches. Theme will be uploaded when I completely finish it or at least obvious bugs are fixed.

I really like the look of this WPS.  I just installed it today, and it seems to work without a problem.  I have one question though.  What dimensions do you use for your Album Art?  I have to convert my JPGs to BMPs, and they look horrible.  The resolution is bad.

Thanks.

it should be 75x75. otherwise they are resized

I wanted to update the build to include recent changes in the SVN, but SVN won't allow me to update the source files provided.  Has anyone else tried to update to the latest SVN?

We're hundreds if not thousands who constantly update to the latest SVN. We also always build the latest SVN version on the build servers to verify that they still build fine.

Hi Bagder,

Sorry if I wasn't clear about what I wanted to do.

I understand that the latest SVN is constantly being built.  I am referring to the "source" that is provided by Saphrano a few posts back.  I can check-out the source from SVN, I can build it, and even update and/or patch it.  But I had tried to update the "source" that Saphrano posted.  When I run Subversion to update the files, it doesn't complete the update.

Saphrano,

The theme looks great. Could it be corrected to work with the newer WPS tag changes? I'm using a couple of custom builds with the album art patch (cpchan and chrisjs166216) from the anythingbutipod.com forum that are working great. I'd like to see your theme working with those builds.

If you upload the theme under the appropriate license I am sure community members would be glad to help fix any errors or port it.
Title: Re: Sansa e200 WPS
Post by: kockroach on July 29, 2007, 04:18:39 PM
I love this theme, and for a little while was unable to use it as no Rockbox builds were available that included the patches needed for this WPS.  Currently, I have been able to make changes to the WPS config, and this WPS can now be used on cpchan's build, and should (I haven't tried recently) work on mschneider's "M-build" and chrisjs' build.

I know the moderators deleted the files, but I think we should now upload this WPS into the gallery.  I would be more than happy to do this, but since I didn't create the WPS I don't think it would be good for me to upload it without getting permission.

Saphrano doesn't seem to be around, so I wonder what is the opinion of the moderators?

Thanks,
kockroach

Your instinct is correct.  If you don't have permission from the author, please do not upload it to our wiki.

I figured I was correct in my assumption, but just wanted to make sure from the devs.  I have sent a PM to Saphrano, so hopefully he will see it at some point.  Not sure though, since he hasn't been active for quite some time.  At least I still have the original ZIP he posted :)

I'm not clear.  Are you asking for write permission for the wiki?  It looks like Saphrano has released his theme under a CC license, if that's what we're talking about.

This
CC license
Authorizes me to remix it, when i mention his name? Or what does it imply? And yes i'm asking for permission to write on the wiki (if that means i can put something like "i made this theme (...) author of the original is Sophrano". I don't want to make mistakes concerning the copyright, that's why i'm always asking for permission beforehand.
To the Albumart not working: You have to have either a file called 'cover.bmp' with 75x75 pixels dimensions in your album folder, or a file called 'cover.75x75.bmp' in that folder with 75x75 pixels dimensions.
Or you download the Album Art resize patch (http://www.rockbox.org/tracker/task/5697?getfile=16419) and compile a sansabuild including that patch yourself. Or you wait for me to get my VM working again...

Well there are several different versions of CC licenses.  Many of them allow re-use and modification to create a new work copyrighted by you.  Have a look at this page: Choosing a License (http://creativecommons.org/about/licenses).

Assuming that Saphrano licensed his work there should be a statement of license included with it when you download it.  Just make sure you abide by those terms and you can modify/update and publish it.

To make this a bit clearer for me: Are you asking for someone to add write permissions to your wiki account or just whether your intended changes are appropriate?

I have a wiki account with write permission. The latter part of your question is my concern.
