Title: 'Rearrangement of playback.c to group routines by thread' breaks backlight timer
Post by: Atheistic Freedom on September 01, 2006, 05:01:08 AM
Yikes, good thing I use CVS to see if anything breaks every change.  And from what I'm seeing, this is the 'update' that broke the backlight timer (at least on 5G it does); the backlight stays on all the time no matter what.

Hmm, seems ok on iRiver, and there is no backlight code called from playback.c.  Could it be the previous mod ("Fixed an off-by-one error in the portalplayer timer handling.") which caused this?

What are your backlight settings?

I tried pretty much every backlight timer setting.  My previous CVS build I had iirc was fine up until that one...no other recent CVS change affects an iPod, really.

Man, I'm confused now if that's not it.

Sorry, last three days less than 12 hours of sleep; first week of school and all.  Hopefully somebody else w/ a 5G iPod can clear this up.

From reports elsewhere it looks like it's the backlight fading which is broken.  Try disabling that (if you have the option).

I do, but I just went back to yesterday's daily build.  All 'fixed' now  ;)
