My IPod nano 1G (4Gb) firmware 1.3
I can install RockBox on mine IPod?
In the instruction on installation version 1.2 is mentioned only - How to install, how for version 1.2?
-
I never knew there was a 1.3 firmware....
But yes, the 1.2 instructions should apply - please report back to say whether or not you were successful. If you are, then we should change the instructions to say "version 1.2 or later".
-
I am afraid to spoil IPod
Can be I shall try...
-
C:\RockBox>ipod_fw -g video -o rockboot.bin -i apple_os.bin bootloader-nano.bin
Generating firmware image compatible with iPod video
Cannot open loader image file bootloader-nano.bin
What further?
-
Same problem here. Nano, 1st gen, with firmware 1.3. Get the following error:
C:\ROCKBOX>ipod_fw -g video -o rockboot.bin -i apple_os.bin bootloader-nano.bin
Generating firmware image compatible with iPod video
Cannot open firmware image file apple_sw_5g_rcsc.bin
Any ideas?

I have successfully installed Rockbox on a 4GB Nano with firmware 1.3 following those instruction + 1.2 thing. So it should be "1.2 or later".
-
As an update, I used the new Install Program found here:
http://forums.rockbox.org/index.php?topic=3391.0
and that worked.

Maybe because you are kind of using the image for a 5g IPOD?

L, please don't comment on something unless you've actually read the instructions first. This is actually the install process for 1.2+ iPod Nanos. The file is just named that right now.
-
It was necessary all over again dowload it:
http://www.rockbox.org/twiki/pub/Main/IpodInstallation/bootloader-nano.bin
In the instruction about it it is not told words  >:(
Oops! It is told, but not in that place, therefore has passed it  ;)
Result: all works perfectly!
I shall note, that I did not do a step 5 in instruction:
ipod_fw -o apple_sw_5g_rcsc.bin -e 1 bootpartition.bin

Ah sorry ^^

Though of course, skipping step 5 *will* result in a proper Rockbox install (as can be noted by the comment above yours), only the iPod retail firmware won't work (which I'm not sure he's discovered yet). ;)
