Title: bootloader: apple default?
Post by: niko on January 31, 2006, 07:29:42 AM
Hi,

could you please add an option to switch the default booting (rockbox<->apple fw)? Or upload a reversed ipod nano bootloader (sth. like this (http://forums.rockbox.org/index.php?topic=2040.msg14895#msg14895))?

I'm pleased to see the rockbox growing on the ipod, but currently the apple firmware is slightly better. *sorry*

Bye
Nik0

Anyone is free to do that (the source to the bootloader is in CVS), but I don't want to have to maintain two sets of bootloaders - I would prefer to spend my time improving Rockbox.

You don't have to use the Rockbox bootloader though - the ipodlinux project is developing a bootloader which is driven by a configuration file and presents the different firmware (Apple firmare, Rockbox and ipodlinux) in a menu that you can choose from along with other features.

It's still in development, but details are here:
