Title: Rockbox resets Iriver firmware settings?
Post by: Mr_Rabid_Teddybear on January 15, 2007, 05:00:58 PM
This is a rather minor issue, but it seems that Iriver firmware settings are reset to default on my H340 when I have been using Rockbox for a while and then boot into the Iriver firmware. Now that's not to often as USB OTG are virtually the only useful feature in Iriver firmware that's not covered by Rockbox.

However, I wonder if this is a known issue and if anybody knows where those settings are stored...

Yes, this is a known problem and has been reported in the past (http://www.rockbox.org/tracker/task/5253 and http://www.rockbox.org/tracker/task/5412)

The settings of the original firmware are stored in the EEPROM chip. Somehow, it seems that Rockbox messes with that. You can also expect unexpected behavior (hehe, sounds weird) when using the original firmware. For example, I once wanted to charge via USB using the original firmware. I couldn't make it to do it. I was always getting the "connected" screen instead of the "charging" screen. I later examined the settings and found out that the "Desktop - Hub" USB setting was corrupted (or something like that IIRC - I don't bother to load original firmware to confirm the name of the setting ;)).

You can always restore the default settings though if things seem to be weird in the original firmware.
