Title: does rockbox play mp4?
Post by: jrs_oldskool on August 09, 2006, 06:49:01 AM
Stoked on the idea of Rockbox but having trouble playin mp4. They play but keep cutting out or overloading or something every few seconds. I'm sure the answer is short and sweet. Also i saw a wma patch in the 'patches' section. how does that work coz i seem to have alot of music thats encoded in wma from the original xbox (unchipped) ripping mode, i guess Microsofts doing. any helpful hints there?
cheers Jared

The AAC codec is slow right now and tends to skip (gaps of silence). Hopefully the Summer of Code AAC project from ffmpeg will yield a faster codec. As for that patch on the tracker, it currently does not enable WMA playback. Marsdaddy is working on WMA but he hasn't been around lately.

Rockbox currently can play two types of audio stored in an mp4 container; aac and alac.

Registered just to say I'm having the same problem as the OP on an iRiver H120.
