Title: Advice on mp3 players / iPod and AGPTEK M28 alternatives.
Post by: JuanjoVega on April 03, 2017, 07:02:25 PM
Hello everyone, it's Juanjo from Spain. I'm new to this forum, but I have been reading over here for a while.

Maybe this is not the right place to post this, but I can't find any other better place, so I apologize if I'm posting to the wrong thread. Please, move it to the right forum if so. Thanks.

I'm looking for some advice.

I bought an AGPTEK M28 player (metal case, 16GB mp3, ...) less than two months ago. I spent a lot of time researching for alternatives for my broken iPod nano, and finally when with this one due to good features at a relative low price.

Today I had to return it to Amazon as it power button stopped working after a couple of weeks failing.

I'm really disappointed with the player. Appart from premature failure, which is the biggest issue, and seems to be a common problem with this model, it was annoying to classify music, I had to turn the screen on to move songs forward (ipod nano does it with a double click on power button) or change volume. After upgrading firmware the problem with volume was fixed, so it became more usable. Also, music in microSD is shown separately from the internal storage, but I could live with it.

My broken nano lasted for four years, but I didn't want a new one as my budget is really low due to my current economical situation, and it was very problematic along these years (I had to repair it three times, and the last one was a sudden blank screen impossible to fix)

So, the thing is that now I have no player to listen music when running, traveling or walking on the street, and I don't know any good alternative. Maybe I have to wait until can afford a new nano, or maybe I buy a crappy chinese mp3, so if it breaks I won't be so disappointed. But none of these are optimal solutions to me.

Other options could be Sansa Fuze or Clip, but these are more expensive. Anyway, if they are worth, I'd consider buying any of them in a while, and installing rockbox which seems interesting (I'm a computer engineer myself).

Having said all of this, could you guys give me some advice on mp3 players durable, customizable, or at least comfortable to use, and below 100€? I'm afraid I'll have to run without music for a while.

Sincerely,

Juanjo.
