Title: Sansa e260R uninstall assistance needed.
Post by: iforget on September 18, 2012, 02:43:11 PM
A friend installed RockBox on my old Sansa Sandisk e260R, which I'm pretty sure is taking up most of the memory on the player (there's 2 albums and no other media. 4GB player has 3.71GB occupied , even if I take everything else off. In reading the installation instructions, I discover that the e260R has special instructions for installation. In these, there is no indication as to how one would go about uninstallation, and the standard method of uninstallation (the Rockbox Utility) cannot remove the bootloader.

As someone not supremely tech savvy, I've no inclination as to how to get RockBox off of my mp3 player. Does anyone have any suggestions?

I'm pretty sure it is not. Rockbox usually takes up only a couple of megabytes on the player. You should instead check the player for filesystem errors (lost FAT clusters will result in lost space) and check if there are any recycle bin folders put on the player by your OS (both Windows and OS X do something like that, and those folders are hidden so you need to enable showing hidden folders first).

Of course you're free to uninstall Rockbox (though I can't help with the e200R) but I'm really sure uninstalling won't fix your space problem.
