Post by: gas_d on April 18, 2007, 06:40:06 AM
As I understand, If I can put Thai font in *.fnt format. I will see my Gigabeat shows a songs name in Thai. Am I correct? If that true, how can I change a font to *.fnt format. Or any one can give me some information how to make my player showing Thai song's name,Please.
Thanks.

Try using a font that supports unicode well, such as Unifont.

Look at this site:

http://rasher.dk/rockbox/fontstats/

it tells you which fonts support Thai.

update: I now also updated our UnicodeFonts (http://www.rockbox.org/twiki/bin/view/Main/UnicodeFonts) wiki page to include Thai.

All these fonts are included in the font pack mentioned in the installation instructions. You can get it in the "extra" section under "Downloads" on the left of the page.

Maybe I misunderstood and you have the fonts already, but then I'm not sure what you are asking.

I don't know much about Thai text rendering. Can you explain to me what we could do to improve it? Perhaps you can PM me about it.

I don't know how to say in English, Let Me try...
Thai text incruding of "vowel". "consonant"and "letter" all are combine together to make a word. That mean Thai text will present in three level of line some " vowel " will be write above the "letter" and some will be write beneath the main "letter" line.
I hope some one that have better English than me explain to you guy more clearly.

I am not quite sure what you mean, but unicode is all we have and I dont think that Rockbox supports 'combining diacritics', which is what I think you need.

Look through the font map for Unifont to see how the particular characters you require are rendered:
http://rasher.dk/rockbox/fontstats/Rockbox%20fonts/unifont.png
and the summary information:
