Title: Yet Another 5G Ipod WPS
Post by: lights0ut on February 18, 2007, 12:30:15 PM
I really liked the WPS done by Twilight In Zero, so I made one of my own based on their design.
Stuff in this WPS includes Album Art,  Play, Rewind, Fast Forward, and Pause buttons, Battery indicator, Volume knob (on the turntable), and a simple progress bar.
Any feedback is appreciated  ;)

Wow, looks great. But how visible is the text when its in use?

Well, the WPS is fine because all the text is on top of those shaded regions, The menu/ file browser is a little hard to read if your folder/filenames overflow the shaded region, how about if I made that part bigger like this?:

Looks good to me.

Dude, that wins. It lacks the variability that mine has, but it seems like giving it a permanent design worked well. There are a few things off here and there, like how the menu overlaps on the border of the window, but it still looks good. Great job, man. I'm flattered that you've taken this much interest in my theme.

...And right when I was about to tell you I'd finished the album art version. :P I didn't have any internet access this weekend.

If anyone is wondering, I will be giving this theme a few finishing touches and posting it in the next couple of days to the rockbox-themes.org website.

one suggestion: use some julius's 'custom menu patch' (i think thats what its called)

I forget which patches but it will allow you to move your menu text a few pixels to the right (so that its not overlapping the red) and also set a limit for the 'highlight bar' (so that it won't go all the way across the screen.

If done correctly, the menu text will remain in that grey window enclosed by that red line.

I understand how this would be an ideal solution, but I want my WPS's to be as accessable as possible. I use my own rockbox build so I'd have no problem adding this julius patch, but that would mean that this WPS would be exclusive to my build (as it would need scrolling margins and custom list position).
In its current state this WPS can be used with my EvilG build or Senab's build.
Here is an screenshot of the menu in its current state
