Title: ErsatzAkku für Sansa Clip plus 8GB - Replacement battery for Sansa Clip+
Post by: electropirate on February 28, 2017, 08:21:54 AM
Hab gerade meinen Sansa Clip plus mit einem neuen Akku ausgestattet:

https://www.voelkner.de/products/317015/Renata-Spezial-Akku-Prismatisch-Kabel-LiPo-ICP582930PR-01-3.7-V-450-mAh.html

hi guys

Just changed the Accu of my rockboxes sansa with that:

Have you actually tried to charge it, i.e. after it has run down?

Did this work?

You better also change the subject, so others can read it, e.g. Replacement battery for Sansa Clip+

Yes I tried to charge - and it seems it did.

the capacity monitor showed half load after installation -  after 1 1/2 hour charging it showed near full load.

it seems that charging works - i will leave e message about that later on.

yesterday I startet music playing and the battery went down to 50% this morning

after that I charged - meanwhile I found the Battery_bench:

# Battery type: 290 mAh      Buffer Entries: 1000
# Rockbox has been running for 00:01:13
# Time:,  Seconds:,  Level:,  Time Left:,  Voltage[mV]:, C:, S:, U:
00:00:01,  00001,     100%,     15:15,         4191,     -,  -,  -
00:01:01,  00061,     100%,     15:15,         4185,     -,  -,  -
--Battery bench ended, reason: plugin exit--

is it possible to change the Battery Type anywhere??? because it is a 450mAh . . .

The clip is now 5 Years old and the battery was obsolete.
I think because of total discharge - my fault.

No, I mean the value 290mAh. Charger circuit doesn't need to know the capacity, it pumps up the battery till it reaches 4.2V. Percentage meter derives the capacity from voltage, there's no precise coulomb comparator (as far as I know).

There were successful attempts at total battery upgrade to 1200mAh, bumping the effective runtime to over 60 hours.

Thanks for confirmation - I though the highest capacity for 363830 was 400mAh.
Seems that more expensive models do offer extra 50mAh on top of that.  8)

Was it difficult to fit it in there, considering it's thicker than the original?

I couldn't compare the thickness because the Original one pumped itself up after I opened th sansa.

After solding  I first had to bend the cables and to press hard to get the body together.
Everything went well and functioned well - until I tried to put in an SDcard in.
The mount is bend out of shape a little so that the snap-in Function is gone ;(

But the card works so I did not need to open the sansa again.

Maybe this can be avoided - next time;)

I see, so 6.2mm is perhaps too much. Thanks for the info.
Another method would be sticking the battery pack onto the plastic clip. This way, with battery outside the unit, one could use batteries over 1000mAh in capacity without affecting the aesthetics too much.  :)

Because of to much time to wait while datatransfer - I now tried to get the SD-Card out of the Sansa - I did that with a knifetip

with 2 results:

1. the sdcard is damaged - its getting very hot in the adapter :-\

2. the snap-in functionality in the Sansa is back without issues. ;D
