Rockbox Ports are now being developed for various digital audio players!
Just wanna say that using http://forums.rockbox.org/index.php?topic=8740.0 EvilG's Build (which is unsupported) On my ipod that has never gotten more than LITERALLY maybe 3 hours on anything, normal firmware or ROCKbox, is now getting OVER 12 HOURS of continuous music playback!! I had it running from almost 11am yesterday until 1:30am this morning. It's pretty kicka$$. I'd look into it, and it has a lot more features than the normal builds, and it's extremely stable.
I did some current measurements for the Sansa.Deactivating: - the lcd-device (when backlight off) - the ata-controller (if no read/write in progress)Simply setting/resetting the correspondent bits in the DEV_EN register did the job.I could reduce the current from 55mA to 41mA during mp3 playback. The cpu frequency affects by ~1mA/4MHz.Sleeping both cop and cpu seems to have no effect.I don't know, wether these values can be simply applied to the ipods.
Dan, IIRC (and that's not to say that I do), just letting rockbox play isn't going to consume comparatively much power... the backlight will shut down, and more importantly, there isn't much HD reading.I could be way off the mark, but I seem to recall that rockbox power is consumed most heavily when building and changing playlists... while twelve hours is a very impressive number, I'm wondering what sort of life you get changing tracks and shuffling between albums and tracks? Also I'm off to check what patches distinguish EvilG from Senab since I can't get 12 hours with it... Â
that's wild, man. I couldn't find any EvilG patches that would necessarily do that... sans of course the extra RAM, but that's for the 60GB only. Lucky you, jerk
