Apologies if this is the wrong forum, it doesn't seem to suit the plugin forum as far as I can tell, so this is next best option - Admin, shift about if you like.
And no, it's not another thread about writing an N64 Emu for RockBox, which is all I could find when searching the forum for 'N64' on here. I'd love to know how people expect to run a cut down Silicon Graphics Indigo [or was it Onyx?] chipset on a 100Mhz CPU without any graphics co-processing.
Anyway, I have just realised that Rockbox on my iRiver H320 thingy plays SPC files - shamone, Super CastleVania and Stuntrace FX soundtrack in my pocket!
I tried to drop an N64 music file for Goldeneye in tho, and it doesn't seem to like it much. It just sits there, looking at me in what appears to be soemthing resembling disgust.
So my question is, is there any plan to scrawl up a bit of code for MiniUSF format sound, along the lines of the 64th note plugin for WinAMP?
Homepage for 64th note:
http://hcs64.com/usf/I tried to find some more techy info, but it works in the same way as the SPC system, except you have a LIB file which contains the common instruments, and the MiniUSF file arranges them into tunes. Er...I think. AS I say, tehcy info is thin on the ground as far as I can tell. I'm a hardware geek rather than a coder, maybe you guys have a better idea how to Google for background info.
I have a collection of Goldeneye and Perfect Dark MIniUSFs that I
could convert to MP3, but I like the original proper, tiny-sized bleepy bleepy files myself.
So, any thoughts?
[Oh, and congrats on a top notch alternative interface for the iRiver - infintely preferable to the [to my eyes at least] bloatware they ship with from the shop. Next step - a new 30gb hard drive and 1st gen 2100mAh iPod battery...]
