I've made a little converter that makes it easier to convert your videos to mp2v/mp3.
I uses VLC.
DOWNLOAD LINK:
http://rapidshare.com/files/11662379/converter.zip.html
Follow the instructions in the readme to install and use it.
Here's a screenshot:

That would probably be a very useful addition on the patch tracker!

That looks useful. A "fps" option would be useful as well.
Another suggestion - some advanced crop/scale options to help people maintain the correct aspect ratio when converting.

I added "fps=xxx", "crop="xx:yy", "zoom=xx"; but I'm afraid only the fps works...

MPEG2 only supports certain framerates. Are you sure you've picked one of the supported ones?

What part of that, at all, answered my question? (I'll give you a hit: None of it does.)

Works wonderfully! However, the sound seems to be mono (not 100% sure though). Not a huge problem for me though.
Anyone having conversion problems w/ this program, I have two suggestions...
(1) Try another file, just for grins. It might help.
(2) Set the fps to 25 in the program.
Thanks so much gnu! Awesome work, and keep it up (=
Future additions:
(1) Maybe batch processing? (I moved the code to a batch file myself, just easier)
General Rants
(1) I wish there was an easy way to utilize the nice video processing chip in the iPod Video
Simply too choppy using a simple codec to be even slighlty enjoyable.

Thanks bro, works great. I have a gigabeat F-40 and I use these settings:
Width: 240
Height: 320
Video Bitrate: 850
Audio Bitrate: 44
FPS: 25

Pure Awesome, such a simple concept,
Maybe add an auto detect for VLC? Using the registry maybe?
Also, as a question, how long would it take to covert a 2min clip and a 30 min clip on average?
