I have a 30gb 5th gen iPod that was mac formatted... I used disk utility in os x to format it to the MS-DOS file system...
I then proceeded to do the following command:
./diskdump -r /dev/disk2 bootpartition.bin
when i typed this in terminal i get the following message:
diskdump v0.1 - (C) Dave Chapman 2005

it then starts writing the file and it takes forever it seems - is it suppost to make that file the whole size of the hard drive (in my case 28615 MB) it took it close to 18 hours to transfer this amount of data...
how long should this process take? or do i need to restore my ipod on the pc - then try this again...
any help would be appreciated.
Thanks
