Ever since the Ipod build of 15 December, I have noticed that my Ipod Video has become extremely sluggish and generally a beast to use.
When in meus, often even a genle press on the select button will perform the equivilant of a double-click.
When listening to tracks and trying to skp forwards or backwards, there is about a 5-10 second delay between pressing the forward/back button and the track actually moving forward/back. Often this can result in two or three tracks being skipped in either direction.
When moving through tracks whilst playing, after two fo three tracks, and when th next one starts playing, the start of some of the previous tracks will be played for a few seconds each, then there's just scrambled noise. One has to press the forward button at least twice to get to the next track, then go back to the one you wanted to listen to. This sounds like a buffer issue - it's probably not emptying between tracks before the next one starts playing.
The stop button has to be held down for at least ten seconds before there is any response, fade out is deadly slow and by the time it's faded the ipod has either crashed or shut off altogether as it's been held down for too long just to get it to stop playing the track.
Random crashes when trying to pause/stop playback requiring a hard restart.
Some of the menu items are not spoken aloud. I have enough sight to see that the cursor is on an item but it is not spoken. Blind users would not realise this.
Also, please, if it's not too much to ask, could the developers not keep randomly turning off directory and filename spelling? I know you've got to test it and it can be annonying to those that don't need speech, but if you're not working on voice on that given day, why turn it off? sory, that's just a personal one!
It's now impossible to use the equalizers (hardware or software), or crossfeed. Playback skips every 3-4 seconds.
These problems are all with a config reset to defaults. I can't even load my own configs as it just makes things worse.
I know ths post covers several areas, but that's an outline of what's wrong. I don't mean to come across as all critisizing, heck rockbox is the best thing that's happened to the world of portalbe music for the partially sighted, but clearly, something, somewhere has broken the software that's having a major effect on its usage.
