Welcome to the Rockbox Technical Forums!
Does it happen every time? Or is it a glitch? Not sure what to tell you, the decoder is sample accurate so you'll only ever get the number of samples the file encodes.
Seems very odd to me. I never get such a gap on any live recordings on any of multiple rockboxed ipods. Is it literally two seconds? Seems odd coincidence if so, as that's the length of gap you get in the track itself if live cds are not recorded correctly (lot of cd recording software defaults to a 2 second gap). Even odder in that the Sony players I used to have lacked gapless playback, they'd have a tiny gap or pop between such tracks, that was one of the reasons I prefer rockbox, precisely because it does true gapless playback (though IIRC the ipod OF also has gapless)Is the ipod modded in any way or just stock hardware with rockbox?
Do your files by any chance have very large embedded album art?
I don't see how whatever it is that causes it could 'know' whether the tracks are supposed to join seamlessly. So I would assume the same gap is being added between every successive track. Logically it surely must be the case? You just don't notice it so much between tracks that aren't supposed to be completely gapless (where maybe it's turning a 2 second gap into a 4 second one?).And I'd suspect it might be to do with the fact it's a modded ipod. Exactly what the cause is though I can't imagine. Is it memory card or ssd mod?(Also, I'd define 'large' art as anything bigger than 320x320 or maybe 240x240, personally.)
