I am new to this, so don't know much about the gain or loss.
let's say, for a scale from 0 to 100, the reasonable listening range is between 1-10 (comparable to the headphone jack out), above 10 is too loud.
I have simply upgraded to the new rockbox dev version and haven't changed any settings (only the font and unicode for display).
however, the volume is now controllable from 0 to 100, it doesn't flat out after certain threshold/point
I clearly remember when I first switched to rockbox version 3.14, the volume is not controllable.
That's why I bought a headphone amp.
I think it has nothing to do with Modification as well, as the unmodified Ipod has the same control ability.
By the way, if I switch back to Apple firmware = no volume control
From what I have read, there is no way to control the volume via line out directly, has to come by with some kind of assistant from other device?
My headphone amp just arrived yesterday, if I knew I could control the volume, I wouldn't bother to buy an amp in the first place
It's hardware dependent.
On the H100 and H300, the line out is stuck at the same level as the headphone out. If you set it to 0dB, it WILL be a true line out though.
On the iPods, they can be set independently. We've locked the line out at 0dB though theoretically it can be adjusted.
On other players, it will depend on how they're set up.
I think I might have found the answer, but just don't know why it isn't working with the version 3.14 or with my Ipod nano 2nd though.
