Today I tried to update rockbox on my 5.5 Gen iPod Video with an upgraded SSD. It's always been working fine, even since I changed the SSD, about a year ago.
I haven't really used it much in the last few months, but a couple of weeks back I took it out of my drawer and tried to listen to one song. I looked for the artist in the database and selected the song, but the iPod started reproducing another song (from another artist altogether). I shrugged it off as a mistake, and gave up.
Today, after trying the update via the Utility, I now get this screen every time I try rebooting the device:
http://imgur.com/a/4L7ypCan anyone help? I tried removing rockbox and reinstalling. Nothing. I installed iTunes, and went on with the restore. That doesn't work either! Even after I restore, the iPod keeps just rebooting to that screen, and the rockbox folder and music files in it are not deleted. Not even the Windows formatting option works. In short, my iPod seems absolutely bricked.
What's going on? Is this a catastrophic SSD failure? Is it possible? I thought that SSDs are not supposed to fail! It's got barely one year of life!
Thanks!
