Sansa Clip Zip
« on: June 28, 2018, 05:00:30 PM »
Hello there, I have just installed the Rockbox firmware and so far so good.

My issue at the moment is that I want to play all tracks by an artist but when I go into database it then plays all the tracks in alphabetical order irrespective of the album. I actually want them to be played in order from first album name and first track in that album to the last track of that album before moving onto the next album.

Can someone please help me with this? This was very easy to do before I installed Rockbox.

Thanks.

You can start by playing the first album, then add each album manually by long pressing select (to open the context menu),  and then pressing current playlist, insert.

Thanks for your reply.

The only way to do this is by manually creating a playlist? I have hundreds of albums on my device so that would take a long time.

In case I didn't explain very well:

My file structure is as follows:

Artist 1 > Album 1, Album 2, Album 3
Artist 2 > Album 1, Album 2, Album 3
etc

Using file browser, if I 'Play All' it shows all artists songs but places all thtracks in alphabetical order instead od adhering to the file structure. Also, this prevents me from playing songs both on the player and SD card at the same time. Same thing happens with database, except I think that shows all tracks from both sources.

What I want to do used to be easy prior to installing Rockbox, nothing else has changed yet functionality has suffered.

Try looking in the manual.
Sections 7.10 Auto-Change Directory & 7.11 Constrain Auto-Change
https://download.rockbox.org/daily/manual/rockbox-sansaclipzip/rockbox-buildch7.html#x9-1270007.10
And Section 12.4.19 Random Folder Advance Configuration.

Thank you for your reply.

So the answer is to start playing the first album and then allow the player to auto change directory?

If I chose to play the first artist and first album, once it reached the end of the albums by that artist, would it go to the next artist at root?

Still not sure on the answer. Also, how do I create a playlist which includes both the tracks on the mp3 player and the microsd card? Also, how do you clear the 'current playlist' now playing?
