I'm a step behind you - I've connected it to my laptop via an msata enclosure, but I can't seem to induce any partition manager to recognise it.  I've tried every combination of iflash card, adapter ribbon and enclosure orientation, and still nothing.

Anybody any suggestions?

Got there in the end, just by trying again and again.

In case it helps anyone else, the PCB "lines" are more visible one side of the ribbon than the other.  That side faces the same way as the microsd card slots.

On to partitioning!

Could you link to info on the upgrade? I'm trying to find a drive that will work in my iHP 140

Check https://www.rockbox.org/wiki/HardDriveReplacement#Iriver
It is the same Harddrive as in the Cowon X5 or iPod Photo. You could use the iflash 4th Gen iPod to iFlash Converter + any iflash SD adapter.

I am not sure, but as the iflash SD-CF Adapter also works with 4th gen iPods this should also work.
