I have a 5.5G iPod with a 256GB ZIF SSD installed and everything works fine. If you have a mSATA SSD installed you may encounter heat issues during file transfer due to high power consumption. I never use the apple firmware. Installation of Rockbox using the Rockbox Utility was super easy. So if you follow the manual the installation process is easy.
Hi thanks for this and sorry for the delay replying.
I bought an iPod 5th generation with 256GB micro SDXC card (Sandisk) in a flash adaptor. I tried to follow the installation process but it would not allow the installation of Rockbox?
I get the following message;
Progress window with the following
"could not open iPod: permission denied"
"could not open iPod: permission denied"
"could not open iPod: permission denied"
** I have been able to install Rockbox firmware and Fonts only!!!!
It will
not allow me to install
Bootloader!!!!!
I have a MacBook Pro 2016 and downloaded the Mac OS version. I am unsure if maybe my SSD card is not compatible? I have emailed the installer to find out if he may be able to shed any light on any 'software' installed on the sod but I have done a restore with iTunes and it works with their software.
I feel like a dog with a bone and would really like to resolve this if it kills me (LOL)
I only bought the iPod as wanted uncompressed music files as I am an audiophile and like the idea of having most of my music on tap.
Regards,
David
