It depends on a great many variables. It may function as expected in full or in part, or it may not, for any given iPod accessory.
The only way you'll know if it functions in your specific use case is trial by fire. If it works, you get your answer, if it doesn't - you also get your answer.
Assuming it didn't, you would either need to add the missing sections of the iPod Accessory Protocol or convince another developer to do it, but that is fairly unlikely given that if a developer had this exact hardware combination and was interested in working on it, it would already function.
