Hi folks,
I just updated my Clip+ to the latest dev build and thought I would recreate my 'All' playlist that contains all the music on the device since it didn't seem to be working after the update.
After deleting and recreating the 'All' playlist file, I went to 'Database' to add the music back, and it told me it needed to be initialized (which is why the playlist didn't work, doh), so I did that. The first stage is that it scans disks looking for items. I noticed that it found about 9900+ items, then asked me to reboot to enable.
I rebooted, then waited while the DB was committed, then added all my music to it by choosing Database -> Artist -> Current Playlist -> Insert Shuffled.
This worked, but I noticed that at the top of the display in 'Now Playing', it says '1 of 8944', which seems to be about 1000 items short of what the DB initialization reported finding. My first thought was that perhaps some files simply didn't have the MP3 'Artist' tag set, so selecting that field in DB wouldn't select them all. I'm pretty much sure that's not the case though; I've been very anal about making sure the tags are correct on every file when I first started using Rockbox a couple years ago. Since then my workflow has always included tagging everything as well.
Is there some maximum size a playlist can be, or is the DB init number including all of the Rockbox and original Sansa files as well? I noticed the .rockbox folder has 362 files in it...
Thanks for any clarity,
ianc
