Rockbox Ports are now being developed for various digital audio players!
peebles, have you tired using it in ext2, ext3, ext4, XFS or JFS formats? have you tried NTFS? what linux utilities did you try?
Rockbox runs on these players, but is incomplete, less usable or has problems that limit it to advanced users
Why on earth would you ever consider using any of these file systems? On targets where we operate as the sole firmware, we only support a singular file system, FAT32. That is all.I'm quite sure your assistance is appreciated, but when you answer in these forums the person(s) reading it generally expect those answering to know what it is they're talking about (at least to some degree) instead of suggesting seemingly random courses of action and hoping something sticks.EDIT: As for the issue(s) at hand, it should be noted that you are using an unstable build for a fairly obscure device that receives little to no specific developer attention other than fixing it up if compilation breaks. The experience is in no way promised to be, or expected to be, free from error. To quote directly from the main page regarding this (and every other unstable) port:QuoteRockbox runs on these players, but is incomplete, less usable or has problems that limit it to advanced users[Saint]
I was asking about those file systems out of sole ceriousity. Wondering IF they would work. I have prolonged the life of many hard drive by changing it to a different filesystem.
How is it that Rockbox ISN'T made stable for Philips Players yet other less-popular or less-heard of players have stable builds?
And why is there new "Daily builds" for a player that is unstable and has no code change at all in said builds?
I never had a problem with my HDD1830/17B. I never had any Kernel Panics ever nor did i have the problem where the player would simply NOT play anything at all when powered on Via Car Adaptor Mode. What I DON'T understand is why all of the sudden? Why is it the the BoxAmp theme worked perfectly fine for over a year than once these KPs stated to happen that the BoxAmp "Now Playing" screen has disappeared and turned into a failsafe screen but EVERY other part of the theme works perfect?
Also the reason behind these Kernel Panics have still not been explained! If these KPs were due to it being a unstable bulid i would of had it from the getgo on BOTH my HDD1830/17B AND my HDD6330/17 from the getgo.Someone will take the time to MAKE rockbox work on these players yet wont bother to take the time to make stable builds?
